Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are a heating option that is viable for the Albany area. The heat pump transfers thermal energy and are an energy-efficient alternative to fuel-fired furnaces and multiple forms of air conditioning units.
Heat pump units and products from Dwight Heating and Plumbing work on the same principle as a refrigerator, using electricity to extract heat from a cool space and transferring it into a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During summer months, the heat pump unit moves hotter, inside air outside, lowering the indoor temperature, and cooling your home. In the winter months, the heat pump reverses itself, collecting outside heat and moving it inside, raising the temperature and warming your home. Heat pumps generally draw heat from the cooler external air or from the ground. Because it moves heat rather than generating heat via burning fuel or heating elements, the heat pump can provide up to 3-1/2 times the amount of energy it actually consumes.
